COAD Assistance for Hurricanes Ian & Idalia Related Needs Ends Wednesday, July 31, 2024

Charlotte County, FL— The Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) announces that applications for assistance related to Hurricanes Ian & Idalia will only be available through July 31, 2024. Households still in need of repairs may have access to disaster-specific funding, but immediate action is required to secure aid.

 

Eligibility Criteria for Home Repair Assistance:

To qualify for home repair assistance, damages must significantly affect the safety and functionality of the dwelling. COAD is prioritizing the following groups:

-Low Income (80% of the area median income)

-Head of Household Aged 60+

-Displaced Homeowners and Renters

-Persons with Disabling Conditions

Eligibility is determined based on income, household size, and other relevant factors. For example, a single-person household with an annual income of up to $45,050 remains income-eligible, while a two-person household can have an annual income of up to $51,540.

 

Additional eligibility factors include:

-Property ownership

-Homestead exemption status

-Absence of current litigation involving the owner

-Up-to-date property tax payments

The first crucial step towards accessing aid is completing the Long-Term Recovery Assistance Application, available at http://www.coadfl.org This application will only be available through July 31, 2024.

"This application serves as the gateway to determining eligibility for financial assistance, home repair aid, or case management."
