News Release: Charlotte County Emergency Management Issues Evacuation Order for Yellow Zone - C

Charlotte County Emergency Management has issued an evacuation order for residents in Yellow Zone-C

This is in addition to the previously ordered evacuations of the Red Zone-A and Orange Zone-B. The evacuation also includes residents in any zone living in mobile and manufactured homes. Charlotte County Emergency Management urges residents to leave now, do not wait. To find your zone, visit www.CharlotteCountyFL.gov/knowyourzone. Secure your home before you leave.

If you are evacuating, be sure to take essential items for all family members. This includes medicine, important papers, personal items, clothing, baby supplies, pet supplies, and cash.

The barrier islands are included in Red Zone-A evacuations. When islands are evacuated, Charlotte County Fire and EMS Station 10 staff are required to evacuate as well. (No helicopters are available during the storm.)

Charlotte County has two pet friendly shelters in Charlotte County.

Kingsway Elementary School, 23300 Quasar Blvd., Port Charlotte

Harold Avenue Recreation Center 23400 Harold Ave., Port Charlotte

If going to a shelter is your plan, take this time to prepare your home and what you are bringing to the shelter. You can find a list of those supplies and disaster preparedness tips at www.CharlotteCountyFL.gov/disasterguide

Don't let a lack of transportation keep you from evacuating to a shelter!

Charlotte County Transit is offering free rides to the two shelters now open. To arrange a ride, call 941-833-4000. The service is operating 24 hours a day until the storm arrives.
